Drowning standing up

A call to action has a profound effect on each and everyone of us. It's that key decision to do something about the way you perceive a situation. Everyone has something they would like to change about themselves. We make different goals and decide at the beginning of a new year. We decide to set our sights higher this year. Halfway into the year, it begins to seem to us that we are not going to achieve a quarter of the goals we set out to achieve.

Methinks it's time to stop the madness. What is the problem here? Where are we missing it. We do want to get better at goal setting and we don't want to sound defeating but we seem to be drowning standing up and the waves are basically carrying us with them. I can see you nodding you head because you just pictured yourself going through the same situation in your life. The worst part of it is that we end up going through this whole vicious cycle every bloody year. I say it again the madness has to stop.

It's very tiring having to do the same thing and expect different results.  I heard it was known as madness. I think there is more sense in talking to A chair. I might just stop now and go do that for a bit.

My plan is quite simple, i actually do not like self help books a lot. I will get one that makes a lot of sense but they can be boring. The part none tells you is that changing any aspect of your life is handiwork. A bad habit is one of the most difficult things to break. I can write stories about habits i have tried to break without any success.

So i decided a while back to stop the madness. There has to be a better way to live fulfilled. That's the entirety of my premise. Tired of threading water. The beauty of life is that we can actually 'eat, pray, sleep'.

It's time to try something new, time to live life to the fullest. There are a lot of things about myself i would like to change so i am going to just go ahead and do that.

Inside each and everyone of us, we know what the problem areas.

Yes we can.

Can you hear the bell?

Always seems like when you are down and out, you get to hear the bell. This means that you get a chance to go back to your corner and come out hitting everything that stands in your way. Might be time to drop the boxing analogy but i guess it's the best(ok, maybe not the best but i am writing this) way of explaining how i feel right.

Ding,ding...that's the sound of the bell and it couldn't have come any sooner. Looked across the ring and 'Life' has a smirk on his face. Death is nowhere around so thats a good sign. A sign that its not over, not even by a long shot. I stagger across to my corner. My legs wobble like jello, my head is nowhere on my neck. My whole body aches like crazy... But i'm still breathing.

My left eye seems half shut, i can hardly see through the other one. Something tells me this next round has to be the one i come out swinging. I can't turn back now. Come too far to even contemplate that. I hear people talking to me. "Stick and move", "you re letting him get the better of you", "don't let him get you in a corner"; I don't even bother to respond, there's no point. They won't understand.

They won't understand. It's all or nothing here. I have nowhere else to go. This is it. Go hard or go home.

Funny thing about life, ha...ha. None comes out alive.

I hear the sound of the bell. Ding,ding...and i smile. I look across the ring into those eyes and he understands...at least somebody now understands.

We are Number 1 or 'You can do it'

I love going on-line and finding a site that changes/challenges my view of the world. What do i lookout for in these sites? not sure. I would like to think its a veritable mix of Quirky/Interesting/Creative/Challenging/Funny. Truth is when it comes down to it, there's no real answer.

Followed various blogs from time to time and i must say, lots of interesting people out there with interesting things to say.

It seems according to world rating of been number 1 at something, Nigeria is actually good at Cassava. Dont take my word for it, check here. Now that's a site that got me smiling. Its a site that breaks information down into visuals that are stimulating and at the same time quirky. That's a mix that gets my brain doing the maracana on a BRT bus.

Also look out for the visualisations that show you which sites are matriachal vs. Patriachal, or just check here.

The cassava thing came as a pleasant surprise to me. I expected something else, but, the people that came up with that visualisation probably thought that Nigeria princes on the run was just too easy a target.

Someone once said that the best way to go about getting good at something was to go out and do it... Ok, noone said that but you have to admit, it does look like something a brilliant, hardnosed business man selling sand to donkeys could have said. which brings up the interesting point about all those internet quotes but i digress. 3 updates in 3 months isn't gonna cut it but i will keep at it till i get the hang of this thing.

I got the site information from Scott who always manages to inspire open my brain to new creative impulses. Definitely a site to look at, and he does Dilbert too so that's another plus.

Still need to think of a catchphrase thats mine.

erm, er, i got nothing.

A lil' Peppersoup for the Soul

Drinking coffee, looking at the screen for the upteenth time. Then it hits me, Let it flow. Let the words magically assemble on the page. Give up and give in to something greater than you.

Okay, now that i have that out of the way. I would like to start saying (really, is this the best opening line you have) Hope you are having a great time out there, wherever you are(you mean that's it).

This is going to be a fresh attempt at starting a blog (you wan try, bloggist). Everyone has an inner voice and mine writes with me (a damn better writer if you ask me). Also happens to be very mischief prone (beg your pardon) one at that (guy, take your time).

So i've been admiring the title 'Chicken soup for the soul' for a while now (and you decided to tiff it) and i decided i dont even know what a chicken soup is. Thought to myself for a minute and realised i have even something better, Peppersoup. Not just any peppersoup but the catfish kind (washed down with 2 bottles of Guinness and you are talking).

What's been going on in your world?

I love Lamp

In a scene from one of my fav movies of all time, 'Anchorman - The Legend of Ron Burgundy'; Steve Carrell's character (One of his finest roles period) points at different objects in the room and begins to declare his undying affection. He points at a lamp and screams 'i love lamp'.

That scene was classic for me cause of the way he delivers it. This was his own understanding of the concept of love. I'm definitely going to have a t-shirt made with that same statement on it. 'I love lamp', simple and straight to the point(Everybody has to have someone or something there love).

I feel like i'm in front of a Camera right now asking "is this thing on?". Been wanting to start a blog for a very long time. I did a while back and posted only once. (Yep, one post after all the ranting).

Read a blog ofilispeaks.com, he has an interesting post about blogging that encouraged me to give this whole thing another go(you should read his blog). The long and short of it is you have to blog from the heart. Its not about been the best blog or most popular blogger, its about talking about something you love.

Still cant figure how to put a picture up on this thing but i'll definitely get the hang of it sooner or later.

Well, i'll be on about everything that makes me smile, makes me feel like a child, makes me take a step back in wonder. I will try to keep it simple. I will definitely try to have as much fun as i can.

This is dedicated to everyone who feels that pinch of greatness in their soul and can't find a way to let it flow. This goes out to the underdogs who do not understand the meaning of the words, 'Giving up'. The first post is meant to set the tone but not really sure if this sets any tone and frankly, I'm still on the high of getting the first post out.

Not gonna be starting a crusade but i will talk about things close to my heart. There are too many things i love about life and in my opinion, all these things come together to make up who i am in entirety.

So in a way, I am like Steve Carrell's character(Need to get the name, was it brock?) pointing at different things and different experiences and shouting 'I love music, I love chair, l love Lamp'.

Lamps need love too.

P.S. its a friday night, there's always room for Peppersoup.
